Chaired by Daniel Yergin, CERAWeek is the foremost annual gathering in the energy sector, ranked among the top five “corporate leader conferences” worldwide. CERAWeek 2026 convened 11,000 participants from over 2,350 companies across 90 countries, including 1,400+ speakers across 1,100 sessions. Attendees included 1,063 Chairs and CEOs, 958 C-suite executives, 179 board directors, 67 ministers and senior officials, and 450 members of the media, engaging in dialogue on the agenda ahead as the world enters a new era of energy.
CERAWeek 2026, themed “Convergence and Competition: Energy, Technology, and Geopolitics” was defined by two central forces: rising geopolitical risk and the accelerating convergence of AI, technology, and energy—reshaping markets, business models, and investment priorities.
“Convergence” was most evident in the accelerating intersection of technology and energy— particularly the surge in electricity demand from data centers and AI. Underscoring this shift, semiconductor and chip company leaders participated in CERAWeek for the first time. Infrastructure—especially the urgency of building at scale—emerged as a critical enabler. Infrastructure investment can unlock capital for core energy operations, while workforce constraints and questions around AI’s impact on labor remain persistent themes. Permitting challenges are a focus across pipelines, transmission, and project development.
“Competition” reflected both market dynamics and geopolitics. The conflict with Iran was central to the agenda, seen as a major disruption to global energy and broader supply chains. A defining moment was the address by María Corina Machado, highlighting the link between political transformation and energy markets. Russia’s war on Ukraine remained central, highlighting ongoing attacks on energy infrastructure, Ukraine’s resilience, and its longer-term transition toward a more diversified system anchored in nuclear and renewables. Competition among nations also came into focus, particularly in Europe, where leaders addressed declining competitiveness, deindustrialization, and the pressures of navigating a potential energy crisis while increasing defense spending.
Global uncertainty sharpened attention on U.S. LNG, marking the 10th anniversary of the first modern U.S. shipment—originally broadcast at CERAWeek in 2016. This milestone reinforced the importance of global exploration, long-term demand, and security of supply.
These dynamics drove renewed focus on the evolving energy mix. Renewables, nuclear, and geothermal were examined through the lens of affordability, security, and resilience.
Through its programs and platforms, CERAWeek 2026 highlighted the interconnections across industries and the partnerships shaping the future of the global energy system.

In 1983, Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA) was founded in Cambridge, Massachusetts, by Daniel Yergin and James Rosenfield. The energy research and consulting firm became known for its critical knowledge and independent analysis on energy markets, geopolitics, industry trends, technology and strategy.
Each year, CERA clients gathered for the executive conference where they gained insight into the energy future while connecting with their peers. Over time, the program was expanded to five days, covering the full energy spectrum and the event was renamed CERAWeek.
More than 40 years later, CERAWeek by S&P Global has become the world’s premier energy event. In 2017, this executive gathering expanded to include the Innovation Agora to advance the energy innovation ecosystem.
CERAWeek brings together global leaders to advance new ideas, insights and solutions to the biggest challenges facing the future of energy and the environment. CERAWeek is widely considered to be the most prestigious annual gathering of CEOs and ministers from global energy and utilities, as well as automotive, manufacturing, policy, technology and financial communities.
It has been described by the Financial Times as the ‘the Davos of energy,’ and by Politico as the “industry’s Super Bowl.” CNBC called it “the world’s preeminent energy conference.” CERAWeek was rated one of the top five overall “corporate leader” conferences in the world.
